Can't wear Armani in IRC

I haven’t played console or computer games consistently in nearly two decades. I vaguely recall blowing NES cartridges clean and playing Contra. And while I actively participate in IRC and other like systems, I have never touched a MMORPG.

From this moment on, you can now report hackers, spammers, botnets and dodgy Adware dealings in various MMORPGS.

That is just about enough to change my mind….

On another note, have you used Honeysnap? It takes your packet captures and produces nice clean output calling out anomalies and patterns based on your input configuration. It has saved me a ton of time recently and I regret not learning about it sooner. Beats maintaining all my lousy scripts… *sigh*

I want some honey in my tea now. Cheers, -Ali

Broken links and broken sentences

I was paying a visit to CodeBreakers Journal and it has been completely overhauled. Navigation is unfriendly and I ran into too many broken or confusing links to stay long. The core content still seems to be intact but I really don’t like the new breakdown and push into IITAC. Thankfully other resources like OpenRCE still feel like home and haven’t funneled me into a corner yet.

Did y’all see this article on hiring security talent in 2007? A “freelance writer” they consult says that entry level people need experience and skills and intermediate and advanced certifications start to register but you need to also factor in experience… and skills. And if you thought that sentence was nauseating then you’re getting the point. Hiring managers still haven’t the slightest idea how to sort out who knows what in security. No wonder snake oil vendors continue to do so well in our space. –Ali
